Wedding Proposal Ideas
Here are a few different ideas for the perfect romantic proposal
Message in a Bottle
Take a romantic stroll on a beach. Hide a bottle in the sand (where you know you can find it). Write your proposal on aged parchment looking paper.
Scavenger Hunt Send her on a scavenger hunt. Leave a series of clues and messages with small surprises along the way. Lead her to the last clue where she finally finds you waiting at a restaurant with a ring.
Balloon Popping
Fill the bedroom with inflated balloons. Include a note in each, describing something you love about her. Include just a chocolate heart in some. Leave one special balloon for the end containing your message. Make sure you leave a pin somewhere handy.
Bathtub Proposal
Send her a basket that includes a sexy white robe, seductive candles, bubble bath and champagne. Include a love voucher: 'This voucher entitles you to a bubble bath by candlelight.' Then, run her a bubble bath just before she gets home and float a message in a bottle in the bubbles with a romantic proposal.
Surprise Date Proposal Arrange for a white box with a big red bow to be delivered to her workplace. Include inside a new evening dress with matching shoes, two tickets to a play/opera/musical/ballet and a special invite to a romantic
dinner followed by a show. Make sure she has the evening free. Finish the night with a proposal on one knee.
Chocolate Box Proposal Buy her a box of chocolates. Hide a love
letter or a ring between the layers.
Secret Spy Proposal Ring her or send her a card with a secret
assignment: 'Your code name is Doris. Go to (hotel) at (time). Give your name at reception where you'll be handed an envelope. Inside the envelope you'll find a key. Make your way to the room.' be waiting with a ring on one knee when she arrives.
Birthday Proposal
Propose to your partner on your birthday. After you have opened your present/s, tell your partner you have a gift for her. Then, give her a wrapped present such as a wedding magazine. On the card, write: 'You'll be needing this'.
The first place you met
Return to the exact place where you had you and your girlfriend first met. Mention that as the location already held special meaning for you and was the beginning of your luck and happiness, you hoped that today it would you even more happiness.
Your Favourite Restaurant
Call beforehand and get advice on popular ways to propose by the staff – perhaps the proposal is written out on a plate, or maybe the waiter delivers the ring along with your desert.
Starry Night Proposal
Write 'Marry Me' with glow-in-the-dark stars above the bed. Or make a sign written with glow-in-the-dark paint so that she only sees it when she turns off the light.
A box in a box in a box…
When she comes in the door from work have a pathway of tealight candles and rose petals waiting to lead her into the livingroom. Place a huge wrapped box in the centre of the room with a note that says “open me”. Inside place another box and inside that another, each with its own note (which could be part of your proposal or part of a poem). The boxes will keep getting smaller and smaller untll she gets to the smallest box of all which of course will contain the ring. When she opens the very last box, appear in the door way, get down on one knee and propose.
Magic Trick Learn some magic tricks and put on a small show for her. Your grand finale will be to pull an engagement ring out of your hat.
Romantic dinner at home
Invite her over for a romantic dinner at home. Put on the works - hire a harpist, oboist, violinist (or player of
any other romantic instrument) to play romantic
songs as you have a romantic dinner at
home – complete with your own chef and
waiting staff. Then, arrange for a toast, with the ring placed at the bottom of a glass of champagne.
Pinata Proposal
Make her a heart shaped piņata. Fill it with
trinkets, sweets, romantic notes. and of course, the wedding ring. Don't
forget the stick.
Secret Gift Proposal
Take a series of photos showing you hiding a secret (wrapped) present. Send her the photos one by one – but don’t reveal where the present is hidden until the last one. Then, hide and wait for her to arrive to unwrap her wedding ring gift .
Staggered Proposal
Take four photos with you miming each of the words 'Will you marry me'. Send them to her one-by-one throughout the day.
'Spontaneous Drive' Proposal
Take a 'spontaneous' drive up or down the coast. Surprise her by pre-booking
a restaurant. Remember to bring some romantic CDs for the trip or a blanket in case you decide to stop somewhere. Hey, even pack a picnic basket (without her knowing) and make a whole day of it. Finish the day with a romantic proposal
Video Proposal
Make a video detailing how much you love her. Include interviews with her friends and family describing what makes her so special. For the finale, tape yourself on bended knee but take over in real life with the words: 'Will you marry me'.
