Romantic New Year's Resolutions

It's that time of the year again when people are putting together their list of resolutions for the New Year. Why not make 2009 the year you sprinkle some extra romance into your relationship and set some romantic resolutions? Here are a few to get you started.

1. Say "I Love You"

Do you say "I love you" as often as you used to? Make a special effort to tell them how much they mean to you. Get back into the habit of saying "I love you" every single day, or several times a day.

2. Love Notes

Leave a love letter on your partner's pillow to find when they wake up. Leave love messages on the fridge, or slip a note into their bag or briefcase to find when they get to work.

3. Date Night

Make time to be romantic! Plan a special day, at least once every few weeks to make some time for each other and go out somewhere special - even if it's just for dinner and a movie.

4. Special Surprises

When was the last time you did something special for your partner, just because? Send her spontaneous flowers, or buy him a surprise gift, just to show you were thinking of him or her.

5. Getaway

Go somewhere special, even if it's just a scenic drive. Or better still, plan a weekend romantic escape just to spend some time with each other.

6. Reflect

Take some time to reminisce and reflect about the time you first met, about your special moments together and about your thoughts and feelings when you first started going out. Remind each other how and why you fell in love.

7. Don't just say it, show it!

It's the little things that count. Give your partner compliments just to show them that you still care and appreciate them. Hold hands, kiss and cuddle, and engage in public displays of affection.

8. Start that hobby!

Have you ever talked about starting up a hobby or interest together? Make 2009 the year that you do it. Take cooking lessons, go to the gym, or just go for a walk in the park.

9. Take a little extra effort

Do anything just because you know that they will like it. Wash her car. Do her household chores. Make his lunch. Just do something simply to show how much you care.

10. Have fun and be creative

Make romance fun. Give him or her some home-made love vouchers for every week of the year. Or create a romantic idea jar, filled with a different romantic idea to play out each day of the year!
